A holiday plan with real dates, for shops and restaurants that live here.

If you run a shop, a salon, a restaurant or a service business on the Treasure Coast, you can feel the holidays coming, and you probably also feel how short this year's stretch is. Small Business Saturday lands on November 28. Main Street America points out that's only 27 days before Christmas.

That's not much room. And the businesses that wait until Thanksgiving week to think about holiday Facebook ads usually end up rushing. This guide gives you a dated plan, working back from the calendar, so you know what to do this week, what to launch in early November, and what to do when the rush finally hits.

It's written for Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Jensen Beach, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and Jupiter owners, by people who live here.

Why the 2026 holiday window is short on the Treasure Coast

Two things make our holiday season a little different from a big-city one.

First, the calendar. Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. Black Friday is the 27th, Small Business Saturday is the 28th, Cyber Monday is the 30th, and Giving Tuesday is December 1. Christmas is Friday, December 25. Everything is packed into about four weeks.

Second, the people. The holidays overlap with snowbird arrivals, so your customer base is changing at the same moment your shoppers are spending. If that describes your business, our snowbird season playbook pairs well with this plan.

Launch Nov 2, Small Business Saturday Nov 28, gift cards through Dec 24.

Here's the core of the plan. Adjust it for your business, but keep the order. The earlier steps make the later ones work.

When What to do
Now through Fri, Oct 30 Get your house in order (see the checklist below). Book a free ad audit if you want a second set of eyes.
Mon, Nov 2 Ads go live. Launch the main campaign now, not Thanksgiving week.
Nov 2 through Nov 20 Build warm audiences: people who watch your videos, engage with your Page or Instagram, or visit your site. Announce your Small Business Saturday offer or in-store event early.
Mon, Nov 23 through Wed, Nov 25 Reminder ads to your warm audiences. Avoid big changes right before the weekend.
Thu, Nov 26 through Mon, Nov 30 Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday (Nov 28) and Cyber Monday. Lead with "shop local" reasons in person, and e-gift cards for anyone shopping from the couch.
Tue, Dec 1 through about Mon, Dec 14 Gift card push. If you ship, add your own pickup or shipping cutoffs.
About Tue, Dec 15 through Thu, Dec 24 Last-minute e-gift cards and "still time" in-store pickup.
Sat, Dec 26 through January Redemption and come-back offers for gift card holders and new customers. Snowbird season continues.

Why early November, not Thanksgiving week

In plain English: new ads have to be reviewed before they run. Meta says most ads are reviewed within 24 hours, though in some cases it can take longer. Then there's what Meta calls the learning phase, a stretch when delivery is less steady while the system figures out who responds. Significant edits can restart that learning.

Put those two together, and launching the Monday of Thanksgiving week means you're hoping everything goes smoothly in the exact days when you can least afford a hiccup. Starting November 2 gives you room to fix things quietly.

What to do before October 30

This is the unglamorous part, and it's where most holiday campaigns are won or lost:

  • Make sure your tracking works. Your Meta Pixel (and Conversions API, if you use one) should be recording the actions you care about, such as a gift card purchase or a call.
  • Check your Page and Instagram. Holiday hours, address and phone number should all be right.
  • Build a gift card page that works on a phone. One clear page, one clear button.
  • Take real photos and short vertical video in your shop. Your actual space, your actual people.

Small Business Saturday on the Treasure Coast

Small Business Saturday is a national day, but it works best when it feels personal and local. A few ideas for how a shop, salon or restaurant can use it in Meta ads:

  • Keep the radius close to your door. You're asking people to physically come in, so reach the neighbors who can actually walk or drive over. (Not sure how far to go? That's a good thing to ask in an audit.)
  • Make the creative feel like your town. "Shop small in Stuart" or "Shop small in Port St. Lucie" beats a generic holiday graphic.
  • Say the date and the reason in the first line. What's happening Saturday, Nov 28, and why should they come to you?
  • Only mention events that are real and confirmed. If you're teaming up with a downtown group or district event, wait until the details are final.
  • Use free materials if they help. American Express offers free Shop Small materials for businesses, if you'd like signs or graphics for the day.

Gift cards: the easiest holiday ad to run

If you only run one holiday ad, make it a gift card. Here's why it's such a good fit:

One offer, one page, two taps. (Mock example.)
  • It's one offer, one page. Simple to explain, simple to track.
  • It works for last-minute buyers. A gift card doesn't need to ship by a date.
  • It works for family who live far away. E-gift cards can be sent from anywhere.
  • It brings people back in January, when you may have more room for them.

Gift cards also work for service businesses, not just retail. A salon, a barber shop, a restaurant, a gym, or a home-services company can all sell "give a local experience." Keep the message simple: who it's for, what it's good for, and how to get it in two taps.

Boost or Ads Manager for holiday promos?

Short version: a boosted post can work for a quick reminder, like "open late Friday." For a gift card campaign, or anything where you want calls, sales or sign-ups, Ads Manager gives you more control over the goal and the audience. We break it down in our boost post vs Ads Manager guide.

Holiday creative that looks local, not stock

Everyone's feed is full of polished holiday ads in December. The ones that stand out look like they came from a real place:

  • Show your storefront, your staff and your products. Real beats stock.
  • Use short vertical video. A ten-second walk through the shop is enough.
  • Put the offer and the date in the first line.
  • Include your holiday hours. Nothing frustrates a customer more than showing up to a closed door.

Budget: start early, keep it simple

The honest answer to "how much should I spend?" is that it depends on your offer, your margins and your goal. We cover how to think about it in our guide to what Facebook ads cost in Port St. Lucie.

Two principles hold for almost everyone. First, starting early with a modest budget usually beats a panicked push in the last week. Second, judge your results on what matters to your business, like gift cards sold, calls and visits, not likes. Meta's holiday guidance, as reported by Small Business Trends, also suggests continuing into January, when Meta says costs are typically lower.

Mistakes we see every December

These are common patterns, not statistics:

  • Launching Thanksgiving week, with no room to fix problems.
  • No gift card page, so the ad has nowhere good to send people.
  • Wrong hours on the Page.
  • Boosting a flyer image and hoping for the best.
  • No follow-up in January, when gift card holders are ready to come in.

If you're also hiring seasonal staff, note that hiring ads fall under Meta's Employment Special Ad Category and have different targeting rules than regular ads. We'll cover that in a separate guide. If you run a restaurant, our guide for restaurants in Stuart and Jensen Beach has more on gift cards and events.

Frequently asked questions

When is Small Business Saturday 2026? Saturday, November 28, 2026, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

When should I start running holiday Facebook ads? For this season, early November is a good target. New ads are reviewed before they run, and there's a learning phase afterward, so a few weeks of runway helps.

Should I promote gift cards on Facebook and Instagram? For many local businesses, yes. A gift card is one simple offer that suits last-minute buyers and out-of-town family. Whether it's right for yours depends on your business.

Is it too late to start holiday ads? Not at all. A simple gift card campaign can still run in December. Starting earlier just gives you more time to learn what works.

How much should a small business spend on holiday Facebook ads? It depends on your offer, your margins and your goal. We don't give one-size-fits-all numbers. Our cost guide explains how to think about it.

Should I boost a post or use Ads Manager for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday? A boost can handle a quick reminder. For gift cards or anything where you want measurable results, Ads Manager gives you more control. See our boost vs Ads Manager guide.

Do holiday ads work for service businesses, not just retail? Often, yes. Salons, barbers, restaurants, gyms and home-services companies can all sell gift cards or gift certificates. Results vary by business, offer, season and budget.
